Requirements that actually ship.

Hi, I'm Trudy Jones, a Sr. Business Analyst & Product Owner with enterprise experience across retail, restaurants, hospitality, eCommerce, nonprofit, and MarTech. Every one of these started where you might be now — with a problem that couldn't wait. Each closes the same way: not with a finished document, but with something delivered.

Resource Central · Nonprofit · In progress

Tech stack assessment & roadmap

A consulting engagement for Resource Central, a nonprofit focused on water conservation, where the teams running five programs had each built their own tools and automations over time. I'm analyzing and diagramming the full current state — every system and workflow — then researching and defining four future-state recommendations toward one ecosystem that's affordable and built to scale.

Outcomes

  • Full current-state analysis — every system and workflow across the five programs mapped and diagrammed
  • Four future-state paths researched and defined: buy, build, hybrid, or stay the course
  • Cross-department impact analysis — finance included

Colibri Group · MarTech · 2025–2026

Salesforce Marketing Cloud migration

Business analyst and product owner on Colibri Group's enterprise migration from Eloqua and HubSpot onto Salesforce Marketing Cloud — thirty brands, each with its own campaign logic, none pausing their marketing. I led the business analysis and BRD development, then owned the backlog and drove delivery with engineering.

Outcomes

  • End-to-end customer journeys, personalization, and lifecycle segmentation built in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Partnered with the Salesforce Data 360 team to migrate customer and engagement data into SFMC
  • Data requirements and workflows aligned across marketing and engineering
  • Backlog owned end to end — requirements translated into user stories and acceptance criteria

Vail Resorts · Hospitality · 2025–2026

Ski School operations app

Business analysis for Vail Resorts' mobile app supporting Ski School operations, piloted across multiple mountains — on-mountain operational needs translated into user stories, acceptance criteria, and API and multi-system integration requirements.

Outcomes

  • Operational workflows translated into buildable stories
  • UAT and release readiness validated across multi-system workflows
  • Post-launch hypercare through rollout: adoption, issues, refinement

O'Reilly Auto Parts · Retail · 2024–2025

Product catalog rebuild

O'Reilly Auto Parts rebuilding its product catalog from the data up — merchandising and parts-fitment needs turned into implementable requirements, with inbound vendor data workflows rebuilt alongside.

Outcomes

  • Legacy product data mapped and rationalized into new catalog structures
  • Governance and standards set for data quality and reuse
  • AI discovery for the catalog: use cases assessed, vendor demos vetted
  • Product, Engineering, and Business aligned through discovery and refinement

Ipsy · Subscription commerce · 2023–2024

Internal apps & subscription migration

Ipsy replacing homegrown everything — systems that took 90+ engineers just to maintain — with SaaS. The mandate: migrate the subscription platform and internal tools without disrupting members or the Care team, and stand up AI-powered support along the way.

Outcomes

  • Ada chatbot containment lifted from 36% to 51% via 5+ API enhancements
  • Subscription migration requirements delivered
  • Backlog owned end-to-end: discovery, refinement, sprint planning

About

How I work

River, a grey-and-black dog sitting in sunlit grass

River — Scrum Master & Chief Morale Officer

The calls come for one of two reasons: a problem that needs solving, or a project that's drifted and needs to get back on track. Either way, the work is a discipline. Real requirements take more than asking good questions — it's digging for the question behind the question, modeling the process until everyone can see it, and working with dev teams until what gets built is what was meant. But requirements are only the start: I own the backlog, keep it prioritized, and drive it sprint by sprint until the work is delivered. I work AI-augmented, too: AI handles the heavy drafting and analysis, and I interrogate every line of it. The speed is new. The judgment isn't.

I'm an expert at what I do, but expertise isn't what makes an engagement succeed — relationships are. I'm invested in the people I work with and in seeing them win, and that's carried more projects across the finish line than any credential ever has. Home is Colorado. When the laptop closes, you'll find me on a trail with my dog, River — he keeps the work-life balance honest.
